50 Acres of Hope
Introducing Lifesong Haiti
2.5 million Haitians live in extreme poverty. With a 70% unemployment rate, many Haitians cannot provide the food, clothing, or shelter needed for themselves or their family, let alone pursue education or get necessary training. Worse still, many of these precious people live without any knowledge of God or the gospel.
In November, 2015, Lifesong for Orphans and Ministre de Bras Ouverts (Open Arms Ministry) joined together to build a high school with residential dorms on an undeveloped 45-acre site in Bercy, Haiti. In the span of a few months, God has seen fit to allow much work to be done. Access roads have been built, a community center has opened, fencing has been installed, wells have been drilled, feeding programs have begun, and upgraded housing has been built for those who live on the site.
Yet there is still much work to do. The need is great.
Would you join us in asking God to–
- Develop future leaders that will change the nation of Haiti
- Grow loving, financially responsible families
- Provide transitional living for our graduates to ease them into independent living
- Create employment opportunities for our graduates and for the local population
We want to pour into the children just as much as we do the adults … Bible stories … feeding them both spiritually and physically.
God continues to open doors of provision for the people in Haiti as the dedicated staff at Bercy seeks to be His hands and feet to fellow families and the fatherless. The goal is to create sustainable business via a plantain farm and guest house and to disciple workers, families, and children through various employment, educational, and living opportunities. With the support of people like you, 1300 children will continue to be served in 6 schools and in 3 children’s homes and dorms. Here is a glimpse of the future–
1300 is a hard number to wrap our minds around, so let’s consider 1.
Tiblan and Celinette are 1 family with 7 children. For years they lived in a mud shack the size of a closet without employment or light at the end of the tunnel. Despite the challenges, they are hard-working people who are raising their children to love the Lord with heart, soul, and mind. Their positive attitudes and infectious smiles are a testimony to the steadfast goodness of God.
Recently, God blessed Tiblan and Celinette’s family. Because of your support and generosity, this family now enjoys a secure home, and Tiblan has full-time employment. We pray God would be pleased to write similar stories for people all over Haiti.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
