News from Ukraine: Senseless Attack on Farm Yesterday

Last night, one of our farms in Ukraine was hit during Russian attacks.

A place of life, growth, and opportunity destroyed.

This attack comes just weeks after another attack on one of our Day Centers, a place of healing and care completely demolished.

As the farm was attacked, several children we serve were attending a Lifesong camp nearby. They spent the rest of the night in a bunker, protected from blasts wreaking havoc above ground. Again, God was faithful to protect these precious little ones and our entire team. Every child and staff member is safe.

There is cruelty in the enemy’s schemes. They are incomprehensible and marked by pain and utter exhaustion. Our team and the orphaned and vulnerable children we serve have weathered many storms that threaten hope. And yet, as they witness destruction before their eyes—

They find themselves clinging even tighter to a hope that cannot be destroyed.

In 1 John 4:4, we read—

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He Who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

That is our cry and prayer for the children we serve in Ukraine, that they would personally know God’s power and understand that the redemption of Jesus is greater than any earthly strife.

After such devastating events, it takes some time to assess the true cost of the damage. As our team walks the grounds of the farm, they see infrastructure broken down, newly planted berries strewn in every direction, and irrigation lines, tunnels, and equipment destroyed.

Beyond what is seen, they grieve many hours of hard work and preparation for this season’s harvest that brings purpose and job security for orphaned and vulnerable graduates.

And yet—we are people who believe in resurrection.

Your prayers are needed. Do not lose heart.

Pray that the hope of Jesus would infiltrate this destruction. Pray that life would again spring up from this farm. Pray for the stamina for our team to rebuild, as they continue each day to rebuild so much in their everyday lives. Pray that God would continue to protect our children and staff. And in Jesus’ name, pray for this brutal war to come to an end.

The most important fight is still for the salvation of orphaned and vulnerable children in Ukraine. And God is faithful to do His perfect will in every circumstance. We trust Him, and we believe God will win it.
