Day by Day, Our Team in Ukraine Continues to Serve

Many good things are happening despite the war. We continue serving, building, feeding, praying, traveling thousands of miles, providing jobs, and singing songs. We live in the moment, day by day.

Last month was very eventful. We held our final mentorship training of the year, celebrated orphaned and vulnerable children on Children’s Day, and are facilitating Christian camps for orphaned children and families in crisis at the Trauma Care Center.

We’re thankful that because of you, we’re able to bring joy, purpose, and smiles to our kids, an eternal impact!

The place where orphaned and vulnerable children are beginning to heal

became the place where our team in Ukraine also gathered to learn how to provide trauma-informed, Gospel-centered care and discipleship. Their final mentorship training of the year took place at the Trauma Care Center.

Caretakers, administrative staff, counselors, cooks, and ministry leaders from across Ukraine and Poland met under one roof to learn and grow. Each one plays a vital role in showing the orphaned and vulnerable children we serve that they are seen, known, and loved.

Christian guest speakers and gifted teachers joined the event, encouraging our team to stand firm in their faith.

Then, at the beginning of June, the children we serve celebrated Children’s Day,

a holiday our team says feels more significant during the war. As families struggle, children can lack stability, freedom to safely play, regular school attendance, and opportunities to make friends.

But our team believes it is the opportunity of a lifetime to care for orphaned and vulnerable children, especially now. So they organized a day camp for over 250 children from local orphanages and Day Centers.

The children enjoyed popcorn, cotton candy, and hot dogs, and played games with their peers and our team. A ministry leader shares—

“To see so many smiles on the faces of children is a great joy.”

The day ended with a presentation on safety during the war and a restorative time of prayer. These restful events help children weather the difficulties that lie in the days ahead.

Christian camps are another way our team celebrates children throughout the year.

Kamila, who visited the Trauma Care Center for a camp, shared—

“It felt different to not hear a single air siren or shelling during the camp days. I made some new friends, and I can’t wait to come back to this wonderful place again and again.”

Bogdan, who also attended a camp, shared—

“I am thankful for each team member who made this time unforgettable for me. The story of Joseph helped me understand that I need to forgive those who hurt me instead of holding grudges. Thank you for the lessons and games!”

Day by day, our team continues to serve orphaned and vulnerable children. And with every celebration, camp, or training, they proclaim through their trust in God that death and destruction don’t have the final word.

Pray for Ukraine & Poland

  • Praise God for the next 6 Chrisitian camps, serving over 500 orphaned and vulnerable children. Pray that the children would respond to the Gospel and hear God’s calling.
  • Praise God for the new bomb shelter at camp 1. God has protected the children from injuries and accidents two times already.
  • Praise God for new volunteers and mentors in Poland, the work of the local church.
  • Pray for God’s continued protection and for there to be peace again in Ukraine. May God bring rest to Ukrainians as they continue to trust in Him every day.
  • Pray for vulnerable families to be preserved, especially single-mothers and their children.

Join our prayer team to receive monthly prayer requests & praises from across our ministry.
